I won't make any medical claims, obviously.  However, these socks have been designed by my lovely knitwear supplier and the NZ Diabetic Association, for diabetics.  They can have terrible trouble with their feet ... and circulation ...  Possum is great for circulation so the idea that possum-merino socks might help seemed a great one to follow up. 

These socks have no seam in the front toe, less elastic - or altered elastic in the top of the sock - and the sock itself is shaped to follow the calf for less pressure.  The knit is a mixture of cable and plain.  Owing to the specialist construction, each socks takes a very long time to knit on the sophisticated computerised knitting machines.  The socks, are a little longer than the usual plain sock.  Hopefully they have addressed the main issues for diabetics - who legs can swell and elastic becomes a real problem. 

Having said all that, two of my most ardent customers are using them for bedsocks!
